Farewell and Welcome

Mrs Warters will be retiring as Head of School at the end of the autumn term.
Sadly we will not be able to recognise her service to St John’s as we would like and as she certainly deserves. But I would like to express our deep appreciation for the untiring and outstanding work, care and commitment of Mrs Warters to and for our children, families and school. Her personal faith, commitment to the Lord and His Church and her deep parish roots have made her a truly exceptional Head of School.
Together with Mr Flood our school has weathered some difficult and challenging times with good humour, real faith and love, working constantly for the good of our children. Whilst we will be very sad to lose Mrs Warters as our Head of School, I am very pleased to let you know that we have made a successful appointment for our new Head of School.
Following a rigorous interview process we have appointed Mrs Katie Hartley who will take up her full time post in January 2020.
Mrs Hartley will join the school towards the end of this term for a couple of days a week to ensure an effective transition before Mrs Warters retires.
Mrs Hartley is a very experienced teacher who was Deputy at St Mary’s at Rothwell. I am sure you will join me in congratulating Mrs Hartley and welcoming her to our community  and will keep Mrs Warters in your prayers.

Having the sad task of planning a Funeral is never easy and can seem daunting. The documents (also at 'Prayer and Devotions' on this website) are intended to help. However, please do not hesitate to contact your priest who will help and guide you in the process. The first document is an A3 (4 x A4 sheets) printable document and is intended to as a help and guide to making clear your own wishes for your own funeral. It should be completed and retained with your important documents and Will or given to your family. The idea is to make things easier for your family to know your wishes concerning your funeral. Some people think that it is morbid to plan such things, however, a little planning can be a great help to those left behind.
