In response to the The General Data Protection Regulation (which came into effect in May 2018), our parish is required to outline our Data Protection Policy. For this purpose, being that we are a constituent part of the Diocese of Leeds, we are required to implement the Diocesan Privacy Policy and Measures in relation to data collection, management and processing.
We would like to make you aware of our specific activity which involves the collection of data by means of a parish census, which seeks to gather a register of information about current and former parishioners. We also have personal information provided by people seeking pastoral help or in the preparation for receiving the Sacraments. The information we hold includes name, address, contact numbers, family members, religious affiliation, marital status. This information helps the parish in its work in the community, to provide a better service to its parishioners and to realise its objectives. The information is held securely on a database that is password protected or in files stored under secure arrangements. This information is not shared with third parties.
