The only hands the Lord now has are ours

The Well Project and Albert Gubay Foundation: 
In March, as Lockdown occurred we were able via our Diocese to apply for a grant from the Gubay Foundation. Albert Gubay was a Welsh Catholic businessman, the founder of Kwik Save. He established a Trust / Foundation to give to the Lord something in return for the blessings he had received. He was a committed Catholic and deeply committed to helping others. We applied for and received £4000 for The Well Project and their work with the Food Bank. I am pleased to say that we have once again applied for and will receive for The Well Project another grant of £4000. (£8k total). This could not have come at a better time as we head in to very challenging times for families over the Christmas period and will be a great help to the work of The Well. Food donations for the Food Bank can always be left in the Church narthex or Presbytery. 
Catholic Care Community Markets 
At Catholic Care we know that many people are struggling with financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have over the last 8 months spoken to many parents who have sadly lost their jobs. The impact of this has been devastating, leaving many feeling unable to feed their families for the first time. Supporting families positively with dignity is the aim of our community markets. Customers are given a choice of fresh baked goods, fruit and vegetables along with cupboard staples such as rice, pasta and beans. Our friendly staff make every customer feel valued and cared for. We are currently operating in five schools, St Anthony’s, Beeston, Holy Rosary and St Anne’s, Harehills, St Nicholas, Gipton, Corpus Christi, Halton Moor, English Martyrs, Wakefield and St Winifred’s Church Hall Bradford. We are working in partnership with our school communities, FareShare, Neighbourly and Warburton’s. Through these partnerships we are distributing surplus supermarket food and preventing it from going to landfill. We plan to expand this service to include more school communities. However, please do not hesitate to contact your priest who will help and guide you in the process. The first document is an A3 (4 x A4 sheets) printable document and is intended to as a help and guide to making clear your own wishes for your own funeral. It should be completed and retained with your important documents and Will or given to your family. The idea is to make things easier for your family to know your wishes concerning your funeral. Some people think that it is morbid to plan such things, however, a little planning can be a great help to those left behind.
